Hideaki Nishino will become the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement, part of a press release issued this evening, also reveals that Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki is being promoted to President and CEO of Sony Corporation, replacing Kenichiro Yoshida who served since April 2018. Lin Tao, SVP of finance, corporate development and strategy, will become the new CFO.
Last year, SIE leadership was split between Nishino and Hermen Hulst following Jim Ryan's retirement. Hulst led PlayStation Studios, while Nishino oversaw hardware and technology. This restructuring places Nishino in charge of all SIE operations and the platform business group, with Hulst retaining his position heading PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, a Sony employee since 2000, previously served as SVP of the platform experience group.
"I am truly honored to lead Sony Interactive Entertainment," Nishino stated. "Our strengths lie in technology and creativity as we focus on delivering engaging entertainment experiences. We will expand the PlayStation community through initiatives like IP expansion, while continuing to innovate technologically. I thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as CEO, Studio Business Group. I'm deeply grateful for the PlayStation community's continued support and excited about the future."
