Exciting news for League of Legends players: Hextech Chests are making a triumphant return following extensive fan feedback. Dive into the details of this upcoming update and discover what's on the horizon for LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Are Coming Back
Riot Games has announced the reinstatement of Hextech Chests in League of Legends (LoL) after listening to player feedback. In a developer update posted on their website on February 27, 2025, and accompanied by a video on their YouTube channel, Riot detailed the forthcoming changes.
LoL admitted that recent alterations didn't align with player expectations, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
One of the most requested changes was the return of Hextech Chests. LoL recognized the significance of these chests, saying, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players will once again be able to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes

Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act this year as initially planned.
Responding to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging "clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."
To enhance player accessibility to champions, the cost of all champions in Blue Essence will be reduced by 50% starting with patch 25.05, following recent discussions about blue essence and champion shards.
Additionally, Riot Games has decided to revert their earlier decision to reduce the frequency of Clash events. Clash will now return to a monthly schedule, with March's event featuring ARURF and April's being a standard Summoner's Rift (SR) Clash.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns

In response to player requests, LoL is bringing back popular features like Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop will return in patch 25.06, followed by the Blue Essence Emporium in patch 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
With these updates, it's clear that Riot Games is dedicated to listening to their community and adapting LoL to better suit player preferences. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Stay updated with the latest news by visiting our League of Legends page.
