Herta isn't entirely new to Honkai: Star Rail players, as many anticipated her playable release after encountering her puppet versions since launch. Unlike characters like Fugue or Imbibitor Lunae, Herta maintains the same Path (Erudition) and element (Ice) as her 4-star counterpart. However, her playstyle differs significantly, focusing on accumulating Interpretation stacks—gained when allies attack enemies—to dramatically enhance her damage potential.
To optimize Herta's performance, prioritize team compositions with allies capable of frequent AoE attacks, especially follow-up attacks, which efficiently generate stacks. Her passive ability, Message From Beyond the Veil, grants all allies 80% bonus Crit DMG when paired with another Erudition character, making her particularly effective in dual-DPS setups. Herta + Jade + Robin + Lingsha
Premium Team Composition
Jade, Robin, and Lingsha form Herta's strongest synergy. Jade excels as her Erudition partner, frequently triggering AoE follow-up attacks that fuel Herta's stacks—especially when Herta becomes a Debt Collector target. Robin enhances the team with follow-up attack buffs, DMG boosts, and turn advancement, while Lingsha provides sustain through healing and AoE follow-ups. Alternatives include Aventurine for shielding or supports like Huohuo/Fu Xuan for additional buffs.
Robin remains the top buffer, though Sunday or Ruan Mei offer viable alternatives for turn-sensitive content. Each option maintains SP efficiency, ensuring Herta can consistently use her Skill.

This budget-friendly team pairs Herta with her puppet version, Trailblazer (Remembrance), and Gallagher. The 4-star Herta synergizes well via follow-up attacks (triggered when enemy HP drops below 50%), while Trailblazer's summon, Mem, provides True DMG and Crit DMG buffs. Pela serves as an alternative support for Ice teams with her AoE debuffs.
Gallagher offers sustain with SP-efficient healing and AoE Ultimates. Replacements include other accessible healers, though his synergy with Herta's playstyle is ideal.
