Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, this encounter is easily missed. This guide details its location and activation.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its subtle icon on the world map makes it easily overlooked.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the Sisters' precise location within the Spires of Deshar varies. However, it's always present on this map. Thoroughly exploring the map will eventually reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Approaching and interacting with it activates the buff. Be prepared for combat; statues flanking the shrine animate and attack upon activation, triggering a broader enemy assault across the map.

A checkpoint near the map's exit allows for fast travel back to the shrine area, avoiding unnecessary combat if you reach it before interacting with the Sisters.

Unlocking the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance buff is applied instantly upon shrine interaction. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; contact with the shrine grants the buff immediately.

Activating the shrine in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel yields a cumulative +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?

Many players find their resistances remain negative even after activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (excluding Chaos Resistance) applied after each Act completion.

The initial Act 2 encounter nets a zero Lightning Resistance change (+10% from the Sisters, -10% Act completion debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the buff increases resistance from -40% to -30%.

To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment in the endgame and check your resistances. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates the buffs are active.
