Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?
Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently hinted at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While an official PC announcement remains absent, Zelnick's comments to IGN on February 10, 2025, suggest a staggered platform release strategy, mirroring the launches of previous Rockstar titles.
Zelnick highlighted Rockstar's history of initially releasing major titles on select consoles before expanding to other platforms. GTA 5, for example, launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014, and finally PC in 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern. While not explicitly confirming a PC release for GTA 6, Zelnick's remarks indicate a strong possibility.
The Growing Importance of PC Gaming
Zelnick emphasized the escalating significance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can contribute up to 40% of total sales. He expressed confidence in GTA 6's success across all platforms, including consoles, despite recent reports of declining PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sales. He believes GTA 6's release will boost console sales, while acknowledging the PC market's expanding share.
GTA 6's fall 2025 release is confirmed, but a specific PC launch date remains unannounced. Stay tuned for updates on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
Expansion to Nintendo Switch 2?
During Take-Two's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick also expressed interest in bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch 2, citing Nintendo's broadened audience appeal and the Switch's enhanced capabilities. The inclusion of Civilization 7 on the Switch further reinforces this commitment.
