A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced

MercurySteam, the renowned Spanish studio behind hits like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has just announced their latest venture: an action-RPG called Blades of Fire. Teaming up with publisher 505 Games, this new title aims to plunge players into a rich, dark fantasy realm teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.

The debut trailer for Blades of Fire reveals exhilarating hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual aesthetic, and an immersive, shadowy atmosphere. Fans of MercurySteam's previous work might notice similarities in gameplay and artistic design to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Meanwhile, the game's environments and enemy designs bear a striking resemblance to the Darksiders series. A standout feature from the trailer is a mechanical bird companion, which appears to be the protagonist's means of navigating the expansive game world.

Blades of Fire is being crafted on MercurySteam's own Mercury Engine. This choice could potentially steer the game clear of the optimization challenges frequently faced by titles built on Unreal Engine 5, promising a smoother gaming experience.

Mark your calendars for May 22, 2025, as Blades of Fire is set to launch on the latest consoles, including PS5 and Xbox Series, as well as on PC through the Epic Games Store (EGS).
