In Avowed, you'll face the decision of freeing Ilora, a suspicious prisoner, or leaving her fate sealed. This choice significantly impacts your journey, particularly at Fort Northreach and later in the "Escape Plan" side quest.
Why Free Ilora?
Freeing Ilora is strongly recommended. She provides invaluable assistance in navigating Fort Northreach, significantly easing the combat encounters, especially crucial early in the game when your character is relatively weak. Furthermore, saving Ilora simplifies the later "Escape Plan" side quest considerably.
How to Free Ilora:
Ilora reveals the key to her cell is located in the Warden's Room. Access this room by climbing crates, traversing a platform, and entering a passageway above. The key is near the door. Even if you choose not to free Ilora, retrieve the key to unlock the adjacent cell and obtain the Deerskin Gloves.
Consequences of Leaving Ilora:
Choosing to leave Ilora makes Fort Northreach significantly more challenging. The "Escape Plan" quest becomes harder. Ironically, Ilora doesn't remain imprisoned; you'll later encounter her as an enemy, further complicating your escape. While you gain loot from her corpse, this comes at the cost of a more difficult playthrough.
In conclusion, freeing Ilora offers a smoother, more rewarding experience in Avowed.
