Expelled: Clear Your Name by Catching the Culpit or Framing Another

by Skylar Apr 11,2025

At Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls, a shocking incident has occurred: a school prefect has been pushed out of a window, and you are the prime suspect. Dive into the gripping narrative of Expelled!, the latest mystery game from inkle, the creators of Overboard!. With just one day to clear your name or shift the blame, every decision you make is crucial.

Set in the spring of April 1922, Expelled! places you in the shoes of Verity Amersham, a scholarship student at an elite boarding school. Voiced by the talented Amelia Tyler, known for her work in Baldur’s Gate 3, Verity has always navigated her way through school carefully. But now, accused of attempted murder, she must use all her wits to avoid expulsion.

This game goes beyond simple dialogue options. Every choice you make—from where you go to who you talk to and what you say—directly influences the unfolding story. NPCs within the school move in real-time, responding to your actions and conversations. Some may become allies, while others could be your downfall. The question remains: who can you trust?

In Expelled!, you're not limited to solving the mystery; you can also resort to deceit, manipulation, and cunning to secure your safety. Need an alibi? Persuade someone to vouch for you. Feeling cornered? Shift the blame onto someone else. The more you bend the rules, the more paths open up for you.

Each playthrough of Expelled! lasts approximately 30-45 minutes, yet no two experiences are identical. Your choices will uncover new clues, lead to different endings, and reveal hidden secrets scattered throughout the school. Investigate the mysterious locked cellar or discover what your best friend is concealing. And if you manage to avoid expulsion, you might even aim for the prestigious position of Head Girl.
