Escape from Tarkov's massive 0.16.0.0 update has arrived, bringing a blizzard of new features and fixes. While the technical rollout continues, Battlestate Games has unveiled a comprehensive changelog and a thrilling new trailer.
Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update
Battlestate Games introduces the Khorovod event, featuring special tasks and rewards. This event also includes a unique Khorovod mode: protect a Christmas tree! This festive challenge unfolds in six different locations at a specific stage of the game.
A highly anticipated addition is the Prestige system, echoing mechanics seen in titles like Call of Duty. After reaching level 55, completing quests, and accumulating sufficient resources, players can reset their character. While retaining some equipment, they earn valuable rewards unaffected by wipes—achievements, cosmetics, and new tasks. Currently, two prestige levels are available, with eight more promised for future updates.
Beyond Prestige, this update boasts a wealth of improvements:
- Engine Upgrade: The game transitions to the Unity 2022 engine.
- Frostbite Effect: A new status effect, Frostbite, reduces vision and stamina when your character catches a chill. Combat this with alcohol, warm environments, and shelters.
- Winter Theming: Numerous winter-themed upgrades and map changes enhance the atmosphere.
- Customs Map Overhaul: The Customs map receives a visual upgrade with new textures, objects, and points of interest.

- New Questline: Embark on a new quest chain involving the BTR Driver.
