DOOM Now Compatible with Apple

The DOOM community's passion for running the iconic game on unconventional platforms continues to push boundaries. Recently, a tech enthusiast known as NyanSatan achieved a remarkable feat by successfully running the classic shooter DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, equipped with its own iOS-based firmware and a processor running at up to 168 MHz, provided the perfect playground for this experiment. NyanSatan accessed the adapter's firmware using a MacBook, as the device itself lacks sufficient memory to handle the process independently.

In other DOOM news, the upcoming title, DOOM: The Dark Ages, is set to introduce a range of new features aimed at enhancing player accessibility. One of the key additions is the ability to adjust the aggression levels of demons within the game settings. This move is part of a broader effort by id Software to make the shooter as inclusive as possible. DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer extensive customization options, surpassing those found in previous id Software projects.

Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the studio's commitment to accessibility, detailing how players can tailor their experience. This includes modifying enemy damage and difficulty, adjusting projectile speeds, and altering the amount of damage players receive. Further customization options will allow players to tweak the game's tempo, the level of aggression, and the timing for parries, ensuring a personalized gaming experience.

Stratton also reassured fans that understanding the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal does not require prior knowledge of either game. This approach aims to make the series more approachable to new players while maintaining depth for long-time fans.
