Don't Starve Together Mobile Release Delayed, Not Coming to Netflix

by Peyton Apr 14,2025

After a long wait since our last coverage in June 2024, we finally have updates on Don't Starve Together. Unfortunately, the game will no longer be coming to Netflix Games, which is the bad news. However, the good news is that Don't Starve Together is still on track for a mobile release on both iOS and Android platforms.

Playdigious, in collaboration with Klei Entertainment, continues to work diligently to bring this gloomy, Tim Burton-esque survival game to your mobile devices. In Don't Starve Together, you'll find yourself stranded on an island teeming with hostile wildlife, playing as quirky characters whose primary goal is to gather resources, survive, and, most importantly, not starve.

Originally planned as an exclusive for Netflix Games, Don't Starve Together will now be available globally via Google Play and the iOS App Store. Although a specific release date hasn't been announced yet, both Klei Entertainment and Playdigious have assured fans that an update on the launch is forthcoming.

Don't Starve Together Mobile Release

It appears that the exclusivity deal with Netflix fell through, leading to the game's broader mobile release. While it's exciting to see Don't Starve Together coming to mobile globally, it raises questions about Netflix Games' future commitment to indie titles. After all, Don't Starve is a significant franchise and one of the most iconic survival indie games. If it can lose its exclusivity, what does this mean for other indie games on the service?

Netflix's indie catalog has been a major draw for subscribers like myself, and the removal of games like Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon adds to the concern. For a deeper dive into my thoughts on this matter, you can check out my review of the launch of Squid Game: Unleashed, where I discuss why Netflix's growing focus on its own properties might be detrimental to the indie scene on the platform.
