This list showcases the best Android RPGs perfect for those long, dark winter nights (and the accompanying rain!). These games offer extensive adventures in stunning environments, deep gameplay mechanics, and rich storylines. We've excluded gacha games (check our separate gacha list for those) and focused on premium titles with complete, readily accessible content.

Top Android RPGs

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2

A classic, now optimized for touchscreens. KOTOR 2 is a massive adventure brimming with compelling characters and a truly immersive Star Wars experience.

Neverwinter Nights

Prefer fantasy? Neverwinter Nights delivers a dark fantasy adventure set in the Forgotten Realms. Beamdog's enhanced edition of this BioWare classic is exceptional.

Dragon Quest VIII

Often cited as the best Dragon Quest game, and our top pick for mobile JRPGs. Square Enix's meticulous port ensures smooth gameplay, even in portrait mode for on-the-go play.

Chrono Trigger

A legendary JRPG, now available on mobile. While perhaps not the ideal way to experience this masterpiece, it's a solid option if other versions aren't accessible.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions

A timeless strategy RPG that remains incredibly engaging. A strong contender for the ultimate strategy RPG, and a fantastic mobile port.

The Banner Saga

(Note: The third entry requires a different platform.) A dark, strategic RPG blending Game of Thrones-esque storytelling with Fire Emblem-style combat. A compelling series to delve into.

Pascal’s Wager

A top-tier action RPG, not just on mobile, but across all platforms. This dark, atmospheric hack-and-slash is packed with content and innovative ideas.

Grimvalor

A superb side-scrolling Metroidvania RPG with stunning visuals and a Souls-like progression system.

Oceanhorn

(Note: Sequel is Apple Arcade exclusive.) A fantastic mobile game and arguably the best non-Zelda experience available. Visually impressive.

The Quest

An often-overlooked first-person dungeon crawler inspired by classics like Might & Magic and Eye of the Beholder. Features hand-drawn visuals and ongoing expansions.

Final Fantasy (Series)

Several excellent Final Fantasy titles are available on Android, including VII, IX, and VI.

9th Dawn III RPG

A massive top-down RPG brimming with content, including exploration, loot, monster recruitment, and even a built-in card game.

Titan Quest

A mobile port of the classic Diablo-style action RPG. While not perfect, it's a decent option if you crave hack-and-slash action.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

A fantastic RPG based on Norse mythology, with convenient save-anywhere functionality ideal for mobile play.
