A new Digimon video game called Digimon Story: Time Stranger appears to have leaked through GameStop listings, just hours before tonight's PlayStation State of Play event.
Gematsu discovered and shared pre-order links earlier today, revealing listings for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions. While the GameStop pages currently lack any visuals or gameplay details about this unannounced title, official confirmation may be imminent.
This leak surfaces mere hours before Sony's State of Play broadcast begins. Though Sony hasn't specified the show's contents, they've promised 40 minutes of presentations. Given the timing of these Digimon Story: Time Stranger listings appearing, the franchise could well make an appearance during the event.
The Digimon Story series predates this potential new installment by nearly two decades. The franchise began with 2006's Nintendo DS title Digimon Story, followed by numerous sequels across multiple platforms. Recent entries include 2015's Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and its 2017 sequel Hacker's Memory, later bundled as a Complete Edition in 2019.
Previous games in the series transported players into the Digimon world to befriend creatures and engage in turn-based RPG battles. While franchise producer Kazumashu Habu hinted at a new Story game in 2022, no mainline installment has materialized since. Though titles like Digimon Survive helped maintain fan interest, Digimon Story: Time Stranger could finally mark the return of the core RPG experience fans have been waiting for.
