Destiny 1 Gets Surprising Update Seven Years Later

Destiny 1's Tower Mysteriously Decorated in Unexpected Update

Seven years after its initial release, Destiny's original Tower social space has received an unannounced update featuring festive lights and decorations. This surprising addition, discovered by players on January 5th, has sparked much speculation amongst the community. The decorations bear a resemblance to past seasonal events, specifically The Dawning, but lack the usual accompanying event quests or announcements.

The unexpected update, seemingly unintentional, has led to theories connecting it to a cancelled event, "Days of the Dawning," planned for 2016. Unused assets from this scrapped event, as highlighted by Reddit user Breshi, closely match the current Tower decorations. It's speculated that a placeholder future date for removal was mistakenly programmed, leading to its unexpected reappearance.

Bungie, Destiny's developer, has yet to comment on the situation. This silent surprise offers players a nostalgic trip back to the original Destiny experience before the studio inevitably removes the temporary decorations. The update serves as a charming reminder of the original game's enduring legacy, especially considering the transition to Destiny 2 in 2017 which shifted all live events to the sequel. For now, players can enjoy this unexpected gift before it vanishes.
