Dark Instruments Guide: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

by Julian May 13,2025

In *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, Goro Majima harnesses two distinct fighting styles, one of which is the "Sea Dog" pirate style. This style boasts four unique and powerful finishers that are perfect for handling large crowds. Unlocking all the dark instruments, however, is a challenging journey that spans the game's narrative and side quests.

How To Obtain The Dark God’s Violin in Pirate Yakuza

The Dark God’s Violin is the first Dark Instrument you can unlock in *Pirate Yakuza* and is crucial for progressing through the main storyline. You'll encounter it during Chapter 2 when your crew member Jason directs you to meet an old friend. Here, Goro and his crew face off against the Devil Flag pirates, who have not only killed Jason’s friend but also stolen the precious Pharoh Stone.

Following this encounter, you'll meet Misaki, the orphaned daughter of Jason's deceased friend, who joins the Goro Pirates in their quest for vengeance. The path to the Dark God’s Violin leads you to the islands east of Madlantis, where you'll confront an exceptionally strong fleet of Devil Flag pirates. Focus your attacks on the boss ship to board it and defeat the Devil Flags. Upon victory, you'll receive the Dark God’s Violin, which you can immediately test in a 100-enemy brawl on the island.

After the brawl, a cutscene introduces you to the captains of the Devil Flag fleet: Yakuza, Ronin, Shinobi, and Zeus. They challenge you to a sidequest, but you can bypass this if you're solely focused on the main story. However, to collect all Dark Instruments, you'll need to take on this challenge.

How To Obtain The Dark God’s Ocarina in Pirate Yakuza

After obtaining the Violin and engaging in the initial 100-enemy brawl, you'll notice Devil Flag markers in various waters. Defeating these ships earns you Devil Flags, and you'll need 70 of them to progress towards the Dark God’s Ocarina. Whenever you encounter Devil Flags or occupied treasure islands, it's wise to engage them to quickly amass flags.

With 70 flags, Atali Island becomes accessible. Prepare a strong landing party for this island, as you'll face multiple waves of attackers. The treasure chest containing the Dark God’s Ocarina awaits, but you must first defeat Devil Flag Captain Yakuza. Once victorious, the Ocarina will be yours.

How To Obtain The Dark God’s Guitar in Pirate Yakuza

After defeating Captain Yakuza, a series of cutscenes leads you to the supposed location of the Pharoh Stone. However, it's a trap, leading to another 100-enemy fight. Use this opportunity to test your new Dark God’s Ocarina.

The journey continues as you learn that Zeus is headed to Flame Island. To proceed, you'll need a three-star ranking and 130 Devil Flags. Sail to the Flame Entrance Lighthouse to trigger a cutscene and unlock four treasure islands: Sunset, Heatwave, Welldone, and Scorching Heat. Remember, these islands don't allow health item consumption during battles, so ensure Goro and his crew are well-prepared.

After conquering the treasure islands, another fleet battle awaits. Focus on the boss ship, board it, and defeat the first mate to land on Flame Island. Choose Jason, Masaru, Minami, and Saejima for the landing party. Navigate through smaller battles before facing Captain Ronin. Utilize your Dark Instruments to defeat him and claim the Dark God of the Earth’s Guitar.

How To Obtain the Dark God’s Saxophone in Pirate Yakuza

The Dark God’s Saxophone is the final Dark Instrument, requiring a Pirate Rank Four and 220 Devil Flags. Achieve this rank by completing main story missions, recruiting crew members, and engaging in mini-games and side quests. Sail to the Frost Entrance Lighthouse to trigger a cutscene and engage the Devil Flag Fleet blocking Frost Island. Four additional islands (Snowview, Coldwave, Icicle Island, and Glacial) are available for plundering and collecting more flags.

Defeat Captain Shinobi’s First Fleet before landing on Frost Island. Navigate through a series of battles leading into a cave, followed by a recovery area. The final boss fight against Captain Shinobi awaits, and after defeating him, a cutscene plays where Zeus takes Misaki hostage. Upon defeating Shinobi, Goro obtains the Dark God’s Saxophone, concluding the hunt for Dark Instruments.

A final confrontation with Zeus to rescue Misaki remains, which is the most challenging battle yet. While not necessary for collecting the Dark Instruments, it's a fitting end to your journey through *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*.
