Warner Bros.' shelved film Coyote vs. Acme might finally get a release after all, Deadline reveals. The outlet reports that LA-based indie studio Ketchup Entertainment is currently negotiating to acquire the completed project - a movie many assumed would never see theaters.
While the deal remains unconfirmed, if successful, Coyote vs. Acme could hit theaters in 2026.
Originally announced in 2022 and inspired by Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker piece, the live-action/animation hybrid features a script co-written by James Gunn with Will Forte and John Cena starring. Despite wrapping production for a mid-2023 Max premiere, Warner Bros. abruptly canceled its release, sparking an ongoing fan-driven #SaveCoyoteVsAcme movement.
Ketchup Entertainment previously saved Warner Bros.' animated The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie from cancellation, arranging its US theatrical run. This landmark release marks the first fully animated Looney Tunes feature in cinemas, praised by IGN as "hilariously chaotic."
The distributor's credits include Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Ben Affleck's mind-bending thriller Hypnotic, and as co-producers on Michael Mann's 2023 Ferrari biopic.
