Slaying monsters is thrilling, but to gather all their unique parts, you'll need to master the art of capturing them in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to do just that.
Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward once you know the steps. Begin by weakening the monster through combat. Your Palico will signal when the monster is vulnerable, and additional indicators include a skull icon over the monster's image on your minimap, as well as the monster showing signs of fatigue like limping or drooling.
When the monster is sufficiently weakened, it's time to set a trap. You have two options: a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Place the trap on the ground and lure the monster into it. Once the monster is trapped and momentarily incapacitated, swiftly throw one or two Tranq Bombs at it to complete the capture. Depending on your preferred weapon and playstyle, you can also use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades.
Successfully capturing a monster will conclude the quest and transport you back to Base Camp.
How to Get Traps and Tranq Items
While your Palico might occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to come prepared with your own. You can craft two types of traps: Pitfall Traps, requiring a Trap Tool and a Net (such as Spiderwebs or Ivy), and Shock Traps, which need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.
For Tranq items, crafting a Tranq Bomb involves combining a Sleep Herb with a Parashroom. These Tranq Bombs can further be combined with Throwing Knives to make Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo to create Tranq Ammo.
