Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a complete fix is still in development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
Recent reports detail widespread issues with Warzone freezing or crashing while loading, leading to player frustration and undeserved penalties. Although the root cause remains unaddressed, a quick fix has been deployed to prevent further penalties for players affected by these lobby crashes.
2024 presented significant challenges for the Call of Duty franchise and Raven Software. Following a temporary outage due to an accidental update in late December and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs, a new wave of problems emerged in early 2025. These loading screen crashes, first reported on January 6th, prompted an investigation.
While the Trello bug tracker still lists the issue as unresolved, Raven Software responded swiftly. On January 9th, they announced a temporary suspension of Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns regarding unjust penalties stemming from the unavoidable crashes. The temporary measure ensures that only players leaving mid-match will face penalties.
Although this mitigates the immediate impact, the underlying bug persists, even after a major update in early January 2025. The continued presence of bugs and the disruption to Ranked play remain sources of concern for the community. Raven Software is actively working on a permanent solution, aiming to resolve these issues promptly.
