Rebel Wolves, a studio established by former CD Projekt RED developers, recently unveiled their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, in a captivating livestream. The stream featured a four-minute cinematic trailer, serving as the game's opening narrative sequence, introducing a dark fantasy action RPG experience.
Set in a 14th-century alternate Europe, The Blood of Dawnwalker follows Coen, a young man who acquires supernatural abilities after the events depicted in the trailer. His mission: rescue his loved ones from a vampire threat within a strict 30-day timeframe. While time progresses only during specific gameplay segments, strategic time management is crucial.
Coen faces a critical moral choice: embrace his humanity or succumb to his vampiric nature. This decision profoundly impacts gameplay and the overarching storyline. A core mechanic, Blood Hunger, adds a layer of tension. Prolonged abstinence from blood threatens Coen's control, potentially leading to accidental killings and unforeseen consequences.
Players will navigate richly detailed environments, with dynamic elements influenced by the time of day. The developers describe the open world as a "narrative sandbox," offering extensive opportunities for player agency and interaction.
Developed over two years using Unreal Engine 5, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. A specific release date remains unannounced.
