Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receives two highly-anticipated additions this week: the classic "Infected" mode and the iconic Nuketown map. This follows the game's launch last week and a recent update addressing player-reported issues.
Infected and Nuketown Deploy This Week
Treyarch, the developer, confirmed via Twitter (X) that "Infected" will be available tomorrow, followed by Nuketown on November 1st. Infected pits players against zombie-like opponents, while Nuketown, a map first seen in 2010's Black Ops, offers a nostalgic 1950s nuclear test site setting for intense multiplayer action. Activision previously stated that regular post-launch content additions were planned. Black Ops 6 launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Post-Launch Bugs
A recent update addressed various issues across multiplayer and Zombies modes. Improvements include increased XP rates in several game modes (Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight). Specific fixes included:
- Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey operator animation, and "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to exit designated play areas on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also improved.
- Multiplayer: Fixed matchmaking issues preventing quick player replacements, prevented private match forfeits with zero players on a team, and addressed a continuous missile sound effect in Scorestreaks.
While some issues remain (e.g., death upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy), developers Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches. Despite these initial post-launch challenges, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a strong entry in the Call of Duty franchise, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
