Despite The Sims 4 celebrating its 10th anniversary, and the franchise marking its 25th year, the game remains incredibly popular. Last year alone, it welcomed over 15 million new players. According to EA's Q2 earnings report, The Sims 4 took four years to reach 20 million unique players as a premium title. However, upon going free-to-play in 2022, it attracted an impressive 31 million new players immediately, reaching a total of 85 million players by May 2024.
