Matajuegos is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Atuel, their surrealist documentary game, on PC and Android later this year! The Steam page is now live, allowing players to pre-register. The Google Play listing will follow shortly.
Developed by the Argentinian indie co-op, Matajuegos, Atuel initially launched on itch.io in September 2022, quickly gaining recognition for its unique blend of documentary storytelling, experimental gameplay, and breathtaking, dreamlike visuals. Atuel has also been showcased at prestigious events like the Marché du Film at Cannes and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Exploring the Atuel River Valley
Atuel immerses players in the stunning yet climate-change-affected Atuel River Valley in Argentina. This isn't your typical game; it's an experience. You'll shapeshift into various animals and elements within the ecosystem, becoming intrinsically linked to the landscape. One moment you're soaring through the sky, the next you're flowing as the river itself.
The game features compelling real-life interviews with historians, biologists, geologists, and local residents, providing insightful perspectives on the region's history, current state, and its future under the shadow of climate change. Matajuegos collaborated with the international documentary team, The 12.01 Project, to bring these stories to life.
Atuel's visuals are truly captivating. Inspired by the Cuyo desert, the game's landscapes possess an almost otherworldly quality.
While you wait for Android pre-registration to open, visit the Steam page or official website for more information. The mobile version will include localization in seven new languages and full controller support.
