007 First Light Actor's Secret Identity Revealed by James Bond Fans

by Jonathan Jul 07,2025

Fans of the legendary secret agent James Bond were quick to speculate about the identity of the actor portraying the younger version of 007 in the newly revealed game *First Light*. The latest trailer, unveiled during Sony’s State of Play broadcast, introduces a fresh-faced Bond straight out of the Royal Navy and eager to prove himself as a licensed 00 agent.

Shortly after the trailer aired, speculation on Reddit pointed toward Patrick Gibson—best known for his role in *Dexter: New Blood*—as the likely candidate. Viewers noted the striking resemblance between Gibson and the on-screen portrayal of the young Bond. Within minutes of the trailer’s release, fans began sharing their observations:

"I recognized it THE SECOND I saw that smirk," commented one enthusiastic Bond fan.

Another added, "Yeah, I noticed it right away too."

A third user wrote, "Watching the trailer, I knew the face looked familiar. Then it hit me—'DEXTER!' I'm almost certain it's him."

At 30 years old, Gibson is only a few years older than the 26-year-old Bond depicted in the game. This age proximity makes him a fitting choice for the role. Moreover, Gibson has already built an impressive acting resume, with notable appearances in series such as *Shadow and Bone*, *The Tudors*, and *The OA*. However, he is perhaps best known for playing a younger version of Dexter Morgan in the upcoming prequel series *Dexter: Original Sin*.

Interestingly, IO Interactive—the studio behind *007 First Light*—has not officially confirmed Gibson’s casting, despite inquiries from outlets like IGN. Meanwhile, the actor himself appears to be staying quiet on the matter for now.

According to the official press release accompanying the trailer, *007 First Light* is described as a globe-trotting, story-driven action-adventure game. Players will have the freedom to approach missions using either stealth and cunning or all-out force, staying true to Bond’s signature style. The trailer itself showcased the character delivering witty quips amid high-stakes situations—traits that align well with Gibson’s experience portraying morally complex characters.

Scheduled for release sometime in 2026, *007 First Light* will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. For those who missed it, here's everything else announced during the Sony State of Play June 2025 showcase.
