Big news for Netflix Games subscribers who enjoy Grand Theft Auto! GTA III and GTA Vice City are leaving the Netflix Games platform next month.
Why are these GTA titles departing, and when?
Netflix licenses games similarly to films and shows. The licenses for GTA III and Vice City are expiring on December 13th. You'll see a "Leaving Soon" tag on the games before they're removed. This isn't a surprise; the initial 12-month agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is concluding.
If you're currently playing either game, you'll need to finish your adventures before the December 13th deadline. However, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on Netflix Games.
Where can I play these games after they leave Netflix?
Don't worry, you can still purchase the Definitive Editions of Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City on the Google Play Store. Each game costs $4.99, or you can buy the entire trilogy for $11.99.
Unlike last year's removal of Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest without warning, Netflix is providing advance notice. This is particularly interesting given the significant subscriber growth Netflix experienced in 2023, partly attributed to the GTA trilogy.
