Civilization 7 (Civ 7) will delay its inaugural in-game event to focus on essential quality-of-life improvements. On February 28, 2025, Firaxis Games released a Development Roadmap, outlining the forthcoming updates for Civ 7.

Scheduled for March 4, 2025, Update 1.1.0 will roll out across PC and consoles, with a separate release for the Nintendo Switch. Initially slated for this update, the first in-game event, "Natural Wonder Battle," has been postponed. Firaxis Games explained, "Although our first in-game Event, Natural Wonder Battle, was originally planned for Update 1.1.0 on March 4, events are now being postponed to a later update to allow us more time to prioritize quality-of-life improvements for players worldwide. We’ll share more details about the first in-game event once we’re ready."

Since its early access launch, the game has received mixed reviews, particularly regarding its user interface (UI). Acknowledging this feedback, Firaxis Games stated, "We are aware of and looking into feedback on the game's UI." They added, "We're continuing to make improvements to Civilization 7, and appreciate you taking the time to drop your feedback."

Update 1.1.0 Will Address Community Feedback

The upcoming Update 1.1.0 for Civ 7 will tackle community suggestions and feedback head-on. While the full patch notes will be available upon release, Firaxis Games has provided a sneak peek of what players can expect.

A new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, will be freely available for players to explore. The much-anticipated UI adjustments aim to address player concerns. Additionally, significant changes to the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path and Victory will enhance AI leaders' ability to achieve a Cultural Victory.

Simultaneously, the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection will launch. Firaxis Games noted, "Players who own either of those editions, or have purchased the Crossroads of the World Collection separately, will receive this content automatically with Update 1.1.0."

Next Major Update Slated for March 25, 2025

The next major update for Civ 7 is scheduled for March 25, 2025, though this date may change. This update will continue to refine the game’s UI, as Firaxis Games emphasized, "Ongoing improvements to the User Interface continues to be a top priority for the development team. The updates being introduced on March 25 are just one part of a much larger plan that aims to improve the UI over the next several months."

Looking beyond March, Civ 7 plans to introduce further enhancements, including a "one more turn" feature to extend gameplay beyond the Modern Age, auto-explore capabilities, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), updates to multiplayer support, and more.

Firaxis Games stated, "We’re in the process of scoping the work necessary to bring these priorities to the game as soon as we can. Some of these will be delivered as early as April (subject to change), though many will take longer to develop, test, and deploy. As always in development, plans can change and we'll have more details to share here in the weeks and months ahead as plans solidify. We appreciate your continued patience in the meantime!"
