Splitgate 2: The Highly Anticipated Sequel Arrives in 2025

1047 Games, the creators of the popular "Halo meets Portal" shooter Splitgate, have announced a sequel launching in 2025. This next installment promises a fresh take on the fast-paced arena combat that captivated millions.

A Familiar Feeling, Reimagined

The cinematic announcement trailer, released July 18th, showcased the ambitious vision for Splitgate 2. Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game aims for longevity, promising a gameplay loop designed to engage players for years to come. The developers have refined the portal mechanics, aiming for a more strategic and rewarding experience for all skill levels.

While retaining core elements, Splitgate 2 will boast a completely revamped look and feel. Key features include a new faction system and cross-platform play on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

The original Splitgate's success, fueled by a well-received demo and explosive early access period, led to overwhelming player demand and server upgrades. The decision to halt updates on the original game paved the way for this significant leap forward.

New Factions, Maps, and More

Splitgate 2 introduces the Sol Splitgate League and three distinct factions: Aeros (emphasis on speed), Meridian (tactical time manipulation), and Sabrask (brute force). These factions will add strategic depth without transforming the game into a hero shooter.

While full gameplay details are still under wraps (expect a reveal at Gamescom 2024), the trailer offered a glimpse of new maps, weapons, and the return of dual-wielding.
