Securing your shelter in the zombie-infested world of Project Zomboid is crucial. While finding a safe haven is relatively straightforward, maintaining its security against relentless undead hordes presents a significant challenge. This guide details how to construct effective barricades, focusing on the essential technique of boarding up windows.
Building Basic Window Barricades in Project Zomboid
To effectively barricade your windows, you'll need specific materials: a wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once you've gathered these, simply right-click the target window. Your character will automatically begin securing the plank. Each window supports up to four planks for enhanced protection.
Resource Acquisition:
Hammers and nails are typically found in common locations such as toolboxes, garages, sheds, closets, and similar areas. Wooden planks are frequently discovered at construction sites. In a pinch, you can dismantle wooden furniture (shelves, chairs, etc.) to obtain planks. Administrators can utilize the "/additem" command to spawn items.
Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie entry attempts compared to unprotected windows. The more planks applied, the greater the resistance. To remove planks, right-click the boards and select "Remove." Note that you'll require a claw hammer or crowbar for this action.
Limitations:
Larger furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators) are ineffective as barricades; players and zombies will pass through them. However, knowing how to move furniture remains a valuable skill for interior arrangement.
Advanced Barricades:
While wooden planks offer a basic defense, stronger barricades can be constructed using metal bars or sheets. However, this requires sufficient Metalworking skill.
