Guild Wars 2 Reveals How Homesteads Housing Will Work in Janthir Wilds

Guild Wars 2's upcoming Janthir Wilds expansion will include Homesteads, a highly anticipated player housing feature. Offering a refreshing take on player housing, Homesteads provides a fully customizable, instanced space for players to decorate and relax. This innovative system, showcased recently, will be unlocked early in the Janthir Wilds storyline.

The feature boasts over 300 placeable decorations at launch, with plans for 500 more before the expansion concludes. Players enjoy complete freedom in placement, manipulating decorations across all three axes (X, Y, Z). This means objects can float, be partially embedded, or creatively combined.

Homesteads Key Features:

  • Instanced and Accessible: Unlike many MMOs, Homesteads eliminates the need for lotteries, purchases, or the fear of eviction. It's readily available early in the expansion's story.
  • Unparalleled Customization: Full 3D placement control allows for limitless creative possibilities.
  • Extensive Decoration Options: Hundreds of decorations are planned, obtainable through crafting, in-game events, and the cash shop.
  • Mount and Alt Interaction: Mounts, skiffs, and logged-out characters from other accounts can be displayed within the Homestead, even granting a rest buff.
  • Showcase Your Collection: Dedicated armor and weapon stands provide a perfect display for prized equipment and outfits.
  • Resource Gathering: A built-in mine, logging camp, and farm offer daily resource collection opportunities.

ArenaNet aims to make Homesteads the most player-friendly housing system in any MMORPG. With its intuitive design, extensive customization options, and community-focused approach, this feature is poised to significantly enhance the Guild Wars 2 experience. The Janthir Wilds expansion, including Homesteads, launches August 20th.
